Health Economics and Outcomes Research
The aim of the Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) area is to advance methods and applications of health economics and outcomes research to support policy makers, managers and industry in evidence-based decisions around a variety of health technologies. In this area, we undertake a range of methodological and applied research focusing on health technologies, such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostics, advanced therapies and digital solutions, as well as healthcare programs. Our research utilizes various data sources including randomized controlled trials, real-world data, such as administrative data and clinical registries, as well as primary data specifically collected to address the research questions of interest.
In this area, our research is supported by commercial partners, national and regional governments, and trade associations. In EU-funded and international projects we also collaborate with other academic institutions, research organizations and regulatory/HTA agencies on these topics. Cergas, through the HEOR area, serves as a Collaborative Centre for AGENAS within the National Health Technology Assessment Programme for Medical Devices.
The research conducted in this area is closely linked with the activities of two Cergas’ observatories: Osfar (Observatory on Pharmaceutical Policies) and Masan (Observatory on Management of Public Procurement and Contracts in Healthcare).
