Abstract:

The aim of the research is to evaluate the value generated by the Foundation, specifically through its Family-Centered Care model, as part of the celebration of its 25 years of activity in Italy. The research has outlined an initial co-design with different stakeholders of the Foundation. Three areas of value were highlighted for which specific data collection activities were implemented (field visits, focus groups, interviews, questionnaires).

  1. Children and families. The triangulated evidence shows that the Foundation provides valuable support in the face of serious difficulties for families, particularly when a child becomes seriously ill. It alleviates stress during hospitalization periods, supports family participation in the children’s care journeys, and ensures family cohesion.

  2. Hospitals. Healthcare staff report that the activities of the Foundation have the ability to reduce the hospitalization time for pediatric patients, thereby helping to free up resources for the National Health System.

  3. Local communities. The evidence reveals the possibility for the Foundation to further develop engagement with local stakeholders, particularly with regard to activities related to the medium- to long-term development of the Foundation.
