CERGAS Seminar "Developments in intersectoral care in the Netherlands: how purchasers and providers respond to new models of care"

-

During the seminar, Thomas will present two case studies. The first examines how purchasers of health and social care (re)configure sectoral boundaries to accommodate a novel care model, and the forms of boundary work this elicits. The second (work in progress) analyses how the mental health care field pursues reform by challenging dominant field-level logics through a counter-institutional model of care. In two regions facing similar external pressures for change organizations and professionals adopted this model, yet they differ in the degree to which they experiment with the organizational templates and values it proposes. What links the two cases is that both models are surrounded by considerable ambiguity. Together, they show how purchasers and providers respond to such ambiguity.
